Ilamatepec Volcano Sunrise

A sunrise hike to the most iconic volcano crater in El Salvador.

Because El Salvador has a side most people never experience. Cerro El Pital rises to 2,730 meters (8,957 ft) — the highest elevation in the country — and one of the only places where temperatures can drop close to 0°C (32°F). Pine forests replace palm trees, fog rolls through the mountains, and the air feels completely different. This Dare exists for the ones who want to feel that shift — not just hear about it.

Our guides are CPR-certified, First Aid ready, and satellite-connected. Because “no signal” shouldn’t mean “no help.” Stamp the passport.

This hike starts before sunrise and includes steep volcanic trails and changing weather conditions. Expect cool temperatures, wind, and a rewarding climb.
